Teetering

Ron Rivera (Carolina Panthers)

He’s been so good for so long but the status of Rivera is growing more uncertain by the day. Not only is this because of a new owner running the show but also because of a disastrous late-season collapse that has now seen the Panthers lose six-straight games. It’s not the sort of stretch characteristic of a Rivera team and that has people concerned that he may have lost his magic touch with this team. Nowhere more so than on quarterback Cam Newton.

Doug Marrone (Jacksonville Jaguars)

Another coach who seemed invincible after last season. Doug Marrone was the toast of Florida after guiding the Jaguars to the AFC championship game. They looked like a team ready to go after a Super Bowl. What a difference a year makes. Jacksonville is 4-9 and has been hammered by one disastrous loss after another. The latest being a loss to the Josh Johnson-led Redskins, a quarterback who hadn’t started a game since 2011.
