Round 3 Pick 84

Khalil Hodge – ILB – Buffalo

Indianapolis appears to have struck gold with rookie linebacker Darius Leonard, but that doesn’t mean they couldn’t use additional linebacker help in next years draft. Khalil Hodge could be the perfect inside linebacker to go along side Leonard.

Quick to the ball, Khalil Hodge could be the next great NFL linebacker named Khalil to come from Buffalo. Hodge is a smart linebacker with good football IQ. He can break down plays and read whether it is run or pass and is not often caught off guard. Hodge is a clean tackler and wraps up on every play. He totaled over 120 tackles in each of his three years in college.

Hodge can effectively use his quickness and athleticism to get past blockers and into the backfield. At Buffalo, he recorded five and a half sacks and over 20 tackles for a loss. He is also able to use his athleticism to cover tight ends and running backs if asked to do so.

Hodge appears to be a pretty NFL ready linebacker. With Anthony Walker under contract a few more years, Hodge could take time to further develop behind Walker, rather than being thrown in right away. With a little more development, Walker and Leonard could create a deadly tandem in Indy.
