Round 2 Pick 50

D.K. Metcalf – WR – Ole Miss

Metcalf offers one of the most unique set of skills that any receiver in this class posses. His speed and skills for his size are not often found paired together. Metcalf has flashed as one of the SEC’s most dynamic playmakers at times. Despite all of this, he still carries some red flags.

His first red flag is he is still very raw and still needs quite a bit of development. If he lands in the wrong spot, he may never reach his full potential. However, Indianapolis could be a great spot to land to let Frank Reich help develop him. Metcalf offers a ton of upside if properly developed which makes him a potential steal at this point in the draft.

His other red flag is he missed much of his Junior year to a neck injury which affected his development. The injury is not thought to cause any long-term affects but is still something for NFL teams to keep an eye on.

Metcalf is still 100 percent worth the gamble in the mid second round. If it had not been for injury and misuse at Ole Miss, Metcalf could be one of the first receivers off of the board. Pairing him with Andrew Luck could help Indy’s offense take the next step. They desperately need a big bodied wide receiver to pair with TY Hilton, and Metcalf has all the potential and then some to be that guy.
