Kansas State. Dalton Risner. 27. player. 10. . OT

The Texans have to protect DeShaun Watson better, it’s as simple as that.

Risner has been quietly sticking in the top 30-40 of many NFL Draft boards all season long and looks like he will be a very steady pro. The Texans don’t need to go flashy with their top pick, they just need to find someone who can do the dirty work and make sure Watson stays upright more often than not.

13. . TE. Iowa. TJ Hockenson. 28. player

The injury to Hunter Henry didn’t really slow down the Chargers’ offense but it did take away an element that has definitely been missing all year long.

With Henry returning from injury, the Chargers cover themselves by drafting T.J. Hockenson, the youngest player to ever win the John Mackey award as the nation’s top tight end.

Hockenson is a great blocker and a big play threat in the passing game.

47. . EDGE. Mississippi State. Montez Sweat. 29. player

The Patriots could go a number of different directions with this selection, but I would really like to see them add an edge presence.

They usually find players who can provide pass rush when they need it, but getting a true difference maker in the pass rush department would help the Patriots close more games.

Sweat has great size and length, and 22 sacks over the past two seasons.

player. 49. . RB. Iowa State. David Montgomery. 30

Perhaps the Packers will convince Matt Campbell to come to Green Bay to be their next head coach.

If that’s the case, doesn’t David Montgomery make a lot of sense as the team’s featured back with Aaron Rodgers running the show at quarterback?

The Packers need someone who can take pressure off of Rodgers, and Montgomery’s elusiveness and ability to create yardage after contact could help the Packers return to prominence in the NFC.

DL. Clemson. Dexter Lawrence. 31. player. 51.

The Rams could lose Ndamukong Suh in free agency, and Dexter Lawrence isn’t exactly going to come in and fill his role, but he can certainly help take some pressure off of Aaron Donald.

Donald has benefit greatly from the presence of Suh next to him in Wade Phillips’ defense, and Lawrence is no stranger to working alongside quick twitch defensive linemen.

If he can come in and occupy blockers, Aaron Donald can continue earning that massive contract.

Alabama. Damien Harris. 32. player. 124. . RB

The Kareem Hunt situation is both sad and disappointing for the Chiefs. As good as Patrick Mahomes is, having a back who can rip off big runs, gain yards after contact, and protect him in the passing game was huge.

Next. The greatest trade for each team in NFL history. dark

Even though the Chiefs need to add to their horrendous defense, a back like Harris now makes a ton of sense in the first round given his particular skillset and what he brings to the table. He would be a superstar in this offense.
