Round 3, Pick 91

Caleb Wilson – TE – UCLA

For as good as the Texans offense is, they do it all without an elite tight end. This is one key aspect of their team that they have lacked for quite some time. Wilson is not your typical pass blocking, big bodied tight end. Wilson is more of a receiver than he is a tight end, think of Evan Engram.

Wilson is essentially a bigger bodied wide receiver who lines up on the line of scrimmage to create mismatches against opposing linebackers. Wilson saw a breakout season as a junior at UCLA, going for 965 yards and four touchdowns. Wilson is good with the ball in space after the catch and can make linebackers miss in the open field. However, he remains big enough at 6’4″ to remain a red zone threat on the goal line.

Giving Watson an athletic tight end like Wilson over the middle could help Deshaun Watson take the next step as a quarterback and help the entire Texans offense similar to how Evan Engram helped the Giants offense.
