A three round pick by pick mock for the Houston Texans. How can the Texans attack their needs in the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft.

The Houston Texans 2018 season started out disastrous. They found themselves in a very bad spot, sitting at 0-3 through the first three weeks. The Texans were a favorite to win their division at the beginning of the year, but after three weeks, they looked like they may be in line for the top pick in the draft.

They got things rolling in week four and haven’t looked back. They have gone on a huge nine game win streak and sit at 9-3 atop the AFC South Division.

They look like a real playoff contender, but this doesn’t mean they don’t have holes to fill on this team. DeShaun Watson is taking a beating by opposing defensive lines and we still do not know if Donta Foreman can return to form to help in the backfield.

For this mock I am assuming the Texans do as everyone expects and bring back Tyrann Mathieu and Jadeveon Clowney.

Round 1, Pick 27

David Edwards – OT – Wisconsin

As mentioned before, DeShaun Watson is getting sacked way too much. The Texans invested a lot in him as their franchise quarterback, and now it is time to invest in protecting him. Edwards enters the draft as one of the top offensive tackles.

Edwards is a big, strong, long-armed tackle, almost the perfect mold that NFL teams look for. At 6’7″ and 315 pounds, Edwards is still very athletic and is a guy who can get down the field to the second level and pick up blocks. Edwards could step in day one and help upgrade both run blocking and pass blocking for the Texans.

Edwards is projected as a late first round pick, which means he should be there waiting for the Texans. If the Texans want to keep Watson healthy, Edwards is the first piece to the equation.
