Chicago Bears 2019 Mock Draft: No resting on laurels
By Erik Lambert
4th Round
The edge rusher situation for the Bears is top-heavy. They have Khalil Mack in place for the long haul, and that’s great. However, after him it gets questionable. Leonard Floyd will be in the final year of his rookie deal and he has just one sack this season. Aaron Lynch has played well but he’s also had injury issues and will also be a free agent. Even if he’s re-signed, the Bears have to think about adding more depth at outside linebacker.
Vic Fangio likes two things above all from his pass rushers. He loves length and power. It’s been true throughout his years as a defensive coordinator. Jaylon Ferguson has plenty of both features. He’s also got some explosion and speed too. His production has also been consistent with 12.5 sacks this year, seven in 2017, and 14.5 in 2016. With a little more polish he has a chance to at least be a strong rotational rusher and considerably more.
