Which teams in the AFC will fight their way into the playoffs? Here’s our breakdown of the AFC Wild Card race heading into Week 13.

Earlier this week we looked at how the NFC Wild Card race looks entering Week 13 of the season. Now we take a look at the AFC Wild Card race and how it may play out. In my opinion, the AFC will be a little tougher than the NFC for teams looking to make the playoffs.

The 8-3 Los Angeles Chargers currently hold the fifth spot, with a two game lead over all the other teams in the AFC Wild Card race. Essentially, there’s one spot left for the taking. With two teams at 6-5 and four others at 5-6, the race for that final AFC playoff spot will be close.

Below you’ll find the current AFC Wild Card race standings.

Current AFC Wild Card race

  1. Kansas City Chiefs (9-2)
  2. New England Patriots (8-3)
  3. Houston Texans (8-3)
  4. Pittsburgh Steelers (7-3-1)
  5. Los Angeles Chargers (8-3)
  6. Baltimore Ravens (6-5)
  7. Indianapolis Colts (6-5)
  8. Miami Dolphins (5-6)
  9. Cincinnati Bengals (5-6)
  10. Denver Broncos (5-6)
  11. Tennessee Titans (5-6)
  12. Cleveland Browns (4-6-1)
  13. Buffalo Bills (4-7)
  14. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-8)
  15. New York Jets (3-8)
  16. Oakland Raiders (2-9)

Now that you’ve taken a look at where every AFC team currently sits, let’s take a look at how things may play out the rest of the way.

We’ll first take a look at which teams are locks to be in, followed by teams who are locks to be out. Finally, we’ll look at which teams still have a chance in this tight AFC Wild Card race.
