Do Bears feature just Cohen at RB next year and trade Howard and draft a RB in late round?

More from NFL Mocks

I love Tarik Cohen to death but he’s in the exact niche he should be on this team. A punt returner who has a package of plays on offense where he’s most effective. He is not the type of back who is built to carry on offense on his shoulders. That isn’t his game. The pairing with Howard should be so much more effective than it’s been this year. Part of me wants to see if the Bears can improve their run blocking to see if that opens up.

That said if Howard is gone as many predict, I envision the Bears going after back in the draft who better fits the Nagy-Helfrich system. Somebody with Cohe’s type of skill set but a bigger body who can handle the hits that come with a heavier workload.

Is the Bears’ offensive line improving? Has Harry Hiestand been living up to his reputation as one of the best offensive line coaches in football?

All things considered, I think Harry Hiestand has done a tremendous job with the players he has. Keep in mind he didn’t exactly inherit the most talent-laden group. Charles Leno is a former 7th round pick. Bobby Massie is a castoff from another team. Kyle Long can’t stay healthy and Bryan Witzmann is a journeyman who played for five different teams before arriving in Chicago.

The only two notable young talents of the group are Cody Whitehair and James Daniels, both former 2nd round picks. Neither has given up a sack this season. The line as a unit has only allowed 23 this season. Given the constant shifting along the interior and the fact this same group gave up 39 last year despite passing the ball fewer times than any team in the league?

Yeah, I’d say Hiestand has done good work.
