Do you believe this team is good enough to win this year?

This question is a bit vague so I’m going to assume you mean the Super Bowl. People will be quick to say that the Bears aren’t experienced enough to win a championship yet. Well those people need to remember teams like the ’99 Rams or ’81 49ers. They hadn’t made the playoffs for nearly a decade just like the Bears before suddenly coming out of nowhere to do it.

This team is equipped to do it too. They have one of the best defenses in the NFL geared around a dynamic pass rush, which is vital in the playoffs. The other part is can they score on offense? Unlike so many years before, this team ranks 5th in scoring. Their offense has shown the capability to strike consistently each and every week. The NFC is tough and the Saints will be a tough team to get past. Still, Chicago is equipped in terms of talent to make it happen.

How can the Bears create more cap space this offseason so they have more room to resign players such as Callahan and Massie?

The easy answer to that question is cut Dion Sims. His removal from the books in 2019 will clear up $6 million. That’s plenty of wiggle room to possibly get something going with Callahan or Massie. Sam Acho and his $2.125 million hit may be another sacrifice. Combine those together and the Bears should have somewhere in the vicinity of $24 million in space. It’s not a lot but should be enough to take care of their most pressing issues.
