The Chicago Bears mailbag this week is packed with plenty of questions about the past, present, and future of the team. All of it centered on their success.

Surprisingly the fans were quiet this week on the topic of Mitch Trubisky and instead wanted to know a lot about the future cap and draft situations looking ahead to 2019. Not to mention their playoff hopes for this year. There’s plenty of that, wild trade speculation and more than a little congratulations handed around to some of the unsung heroes of this team.

We shouldn’t be worried about it but what surprising moves could Pace make?

Looking towards next year there are a number of unexpected maneuvers Pace could try. Keep in mind he’ll be going into the 2019 draft with just five picks including none in the 1st or 2nd round. That may not sit well with a guy like him. Somebody who loves to build his roster through the draft. This could mean he may try to trade one or two players for some picks.

“Who?” I can hear you asking. The obvious name is Jordan Howard. The former Pro Bowl running back has not looked in sync with the Matt Nagy offense. Combine that with his rookie contract entering its final year, he would make prime trade bait for a team that wants a young, proven back to help their running game.

The other surprise name who could be dealt? Chase Daniel. Quarterbacks are always at a premium in this league. After his strong showing in Detroit after four years of not taking a meaningful snap, he no doubt caught the attention of some. Say he plays again in New York and beats the Giants? That could create just enough of a buzz for teams to come calling. The Bears could squeeze a nice pick out of that and Daniels gets a chance to compete for a starting job elsewhere.
