College Football week 13 takeaways: Ohio State shakes things up
Seven Overtimes For Texas A&M Over LSU
If you wanted points, you certainly got it. If you wanted multiple overtimes, well you got that also.
Kyle Field held an attendance of 101,501 individuals who witnessed the highest scoring game in FBS history. Those in attendance who were fans of #22 Texas A&M were the more jubilant once the seven overtime sword fight commenced with a 74-72 win over #12 LSU (9-3, 5-3 SEC). The Aggies (8-4, 5-3) tied the game at 31-31 on the last play of regulation on a 19-yard touchdown catch by receiver Quartney Davis.
The ever animated LSU head coach Ed Orgeron was his normal self on several occasions during the overtime periods and the wizardry of Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher was also on display. Signs of fatigue were there early in the overtime periods and of course were expected with two talented teams refusing to back down for overtime after overtime.
A 10-yard touchdown run by LSU quarterback Joe Burrow gave the Tigers a 72-66 lead over the Aggies in the seventh overtime.
But what troubled the LSU Tigers during the game was the underrated group of Texas A&M receivers. Another touchdown catch by Davis was followed by a two-point conversion by receiver Kendrick Rogers from quarterback Kellen Mond to seal the deal.
Year one for Fisher in Aggieland was a success and ended on a very high note. For what he inherited and what is to come in upcoming seasons, a game such as this magnitude and finish showed us that Texas A&M is a program on a fast rise.
