Guys who are 6’4, 250 lbs and can run a sub-4.60 tend to find their way into the top of a draft and for good reason. Players with that size-speed combination are rare, especially if they can consistently catch the football. That’s what Irv Smith Jr. has shown at Alabama. He’s not quite the freak of nature O.J. Howard was, but he’s a dangerous weapon anywhere he lines up on the field. Don’t get fooled by the numbers. This kid creates mismatches. With Jimmy Graham’s future likely in doubt beyond 2018 with the Packers, they should look to bolstering their tight end position for the future. Smith Jr. is just the solution they could’ve hoped for.
