Washington State cruises to easy win

As if we needed any more indication that the #7 Washington State Cougars were dangerous on offense, Saturday night’s showcase against the Arizona Wildcats should have sealed the deal on how good Washington State really is.

Led by quarterback Gardner Minshew’s 473 passing yards and seven touchdowns, the Cougars (10-1, 7-1 Pac-12) gave the Wildcats (5-6, 4-4) a 69-28 thrashing. This one was pretty much over once the Cougars scored 55 of their 69 points in the first half.

It was the largest game total this season for the Cougars in terms of yards (605) and points (69) and likely left a lasting mark on the overall perception of the Cougars and their possible placement in the College Football Playoff.

The annual Apple Cup next week against #16 Washington still remains on the schedule for the Cougars, as does a trip to the Pac-12 title game. The Cougars will need a little help but they almost certainly have the committee’s attention.
