College Football Week 12 Takeaways: Washington State impresses
Fighting Irish thumps in Yankee Stadium
On hallowed grounds that is the historic Yankee Stadium, it was the team, ironically, in pinstripes that walked away victorious.
In a battle of top-12 teams prior to the game, the #3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (11-0) strengthen their case for a spot in the College Football Playoff with a 36-3 washing of #19 Syracuse Orange (8-3, 5-2 ACC).
A return of starting quarterback Ian Book provided the catalyst on offense as he tossed for 292 yards and two touchdowns and the Irish offense ran for 171 yards. The Syracuse offense entered the contest averaging 44 points per game but were held to a season-low in points and yards.
The cherry on top was losing starting quarterback Eric Dungey to an injury in the first quarter.
Now the Irish will turn their sights to arch rival USC in their annual clash to close out the season. A win there will just about seal their chances of having placement in the College Football Playoff.
Keep in mind that they have not won in at USC since 2012.
