46. . EDGE. Florida State. Brian Burns. 12. player

Long gone are the days of Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney terrorizing opposing quarterbacks while the Colts had Peyton Manning surgically and systematically tearing other teams apart on the opposite side of the ball.

The Colts appear to have struck gold with the combination of a healthy Andrew Luck and head coach Frank Reich, who was not even close to their top option this past offseason when they chose to move on from Chuck Pagano and his staff.

Because of the early success of Reich and a very good looking 2018 NFL Draft class, the Colts can begin supplementing the pieces they have in place.

Defensively, they are led in the sack category by off-ball rookie linebacker Darius Leonard (4).

That simply won’t cut it over the long haul.

Enter Brian Burns of Florida State, who has 22 sacks, 36.5 tackles for loss, and seven forced fumbles in the first three seasons of his college career. He makes plays behind the line of scrimmage and could give the Colts a much-needed presence off the edge.
