2. Houston Texans (6-3)

Divison Standings:

  1. Houston Texans (6-3)
  2. Tennessee Titans (5-4)
  3. Indianapolis Colts (4-5)
  4. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-6)

Remaining Schedule: At Washington Redskins (6-3), Tennessee Titans (5-4), Cleveland Browns (3-6-1), Indianapolis Colts (4-5), at New York Jets (3-7), at Philadelphia Eagles (4-5) and Jacksonville Jaguars (3-6).

Analysis: The AFC South division leaders started the NFL season 0-3, but then got hot and are currently on a six game winning streak. Their six game win streak includes wins against the Indianapolis Colts (4-5), Dallas Cowboys (4-5), Buffalo Bills (3-7), Jacksonville Jaguars (3-6), Miami  Dolphins (5-5) and Denver Broncos (3-6).

Although the Texans have beaten a team with a winning record, that team is sitting right at .500. That’s just as concerning as what the Bears have done up to this point.

When looking at the Texans’ schedule for the rest of the NFL season, the next big game comes against the Washington Redskins. Washington is currently leading the NFC East and are also 6-3, meaning either the Redskins or Texans will fall to 6-4 and help their division opponents.

After playing the Redskins on the road, the Texans then have to play their division rival, the Tennessee Titans. Last time the Titans and Texans played, the Titans came out on top 20-17. No division game is ever easy.

Houston finishes the NFL season against five straight opponents who currently hold a losing record. Despite that, those won’t be easy games. Two of them are against division rivals. You never know what week the Browns or Jets might have a good game, and the Eagles are the defending Super Bowl champs.

With the Titans currently one game behind in the division, the Texans shouldn’t be comfortable with where they are. The Titans just beat the Patriots 34-10 and seem to be a different team after their bye week. Andrew Luck and the Colts are two games back, but Luck has been on fire during the Colts’ three game win streak. Luck has completed 72.4 percent of his passes for 680 yards and 10 TDs over the last three games.

The AFC South division leaders are up one game right now, but the division is far from being won.
