Miami Dolphins: Cameron Wake takes over for Jason Taylor

Jason Taylor was a Hall of Fame pass rusher that got the Miami Dolphins through some pretty dark periods in the post-Don Shula and Dan Marino years. Some people believe he’s overrated but ask the quarterbacks and offensive tackles who had to play against him every year and they’d set you straight. Taylor was consistently dominant for a long period of time.

His end there was a bit strange. Initially, he left the Dolphins after the 2007 season in favor of the slightly younger Joey Porter, recently signed from Pittsburgh. However, he returned in 2009 to play another season for them. This time it was young Cameron Wake, recently signed from Canada that caught the attention of coaches and fans. Taylor wouldn’t survive the second departure.

Wake has posted 95.5 sacks since then. It makes people wonder whether he’d have broken Taylor’s team sack record had he not arrived a bit later in his career at age 27.
