Indianapolis Colts: T.Y. Hilton takes over for Reggie Wayne
From the second Reggie Wayne was drafted, he was a thorn in the side of NFL defensive backs.
The Indianapolis Colts knew how to pick offensive skill players in the early 2000s to surround Peyton Manning with the best talent possible, and Wayne doesn’t get enough love as one of the best to ever play because of how good Marvin Harrison was on the other side of the field.
Wayne played all 14 of his NFL seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, but at the back end of his career, the Colts drafted T.Y. Hilton to add a speed element to an offense that would now feature Andrew Luck instead of Peyton Manning.
Wayne was a Manning guy, and at least for a year he was also an Andrew Luck guy. After the 2012 season, Wayne started drifting and Hilton began his ascent. Injuries have somewhat limited him (not only his own injuries, but Luck’s injuries as well) and Hilton has not been the same type of player he was earlier on, but he had more than 1,000 yards receiving for four straight seasons starting in 2013 and Wayne retired following the 2014 season.
