How Amari Cooper has changed the Dallas Cowboys’ offense
By Joel Deering
The answer: Amari Cooper
Ezekiel Elliott had success against the Eagles for the same reason Dak Prescott had success. Amari Cooper was getting open down the field. Even though not all of the targets to Cooper were completed, the Eagles knew Prescott was willing to take shots down the field.
Much like it opened up the passing game for Dak, it opened up the running game for Ezekiel Elliott. Before Cooper, the Dallas Cowboys didn’t have any player as a down field threat. Amari Cooper changes that. The Eagles couldn’t stack the box as much because they knew Prescott would at least take a chance at finding Cooper for a big play, something he wasn’t able to do before. This resulted in Elliott gaining chunk plays on a good portion of his runs.
After seeing a successful formula on offense, there’s still some questions for this team offensively. Will they continue to take shots down the field to Cooper? They saw it work against the Philadelphia Eagles last night, but will they keep doing it as the season goes on?
If there’s one thing the offense of the Cowboys has been this season, it’s inconsistent. If they want any chance at winning their division or making the playoffs, this offense has to put together consistent performances to help their top notch defense.
How do they put together consistent performances on offense?
