Oklahoma victorious in wild shootout

When it comes to the Bedlam rivalry between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, you never really know what exactly you will get.

Five of the last seven meetings between the two programs have been decided by 10 points or less and that includes of course, the Saturday encounter between the two which saw no. 6 Oklahoma (9-1, 6-1 Big 12) prevail 48-47 over Oklahoma State (5-5, 2-5).

The fireworks in this shootout started early with the game being tied at 14 with a little over five minutes remaining after Oklahoma State’s Tyron Johnson hauled in a 31-yard touchdown reception.

By the time halftime rolled around, Oklahoma possessed a narrow 34-28 lead. On the day, Oklahoma star quarterback Kyler Murray totaled 415 yards of offense but the Sooners defense gave up 640 total yards. Both defenses relinquished 1,346 yards of offense.

The Sooners are also eyeing a season finale of their own against no. 7 West Virginia in just about two weeks which will determine the Big 12 champion.

One thing is for sure, the Sooners defense is a real liability at this point and even if they were to defeat the Mountaineers and make the College Football Playoff, are they capable of improving in a short amount of time?
