Can the Pac-12 make the CFP?

It is a question that is often asked on a weekly basis and rightfully so. It appears that every week the declared “favorite” to make the College Football Playoff seems to stumble in some sort of fashion. The likely team to bust the brackets is #10 Washington State (8-1, 5-1 Pac-12). However, this past week, they gutted out a 19-13 win over California (5-4, 2-4) that needed a late touchdown to put the game away.

As mentioned earlier, Utah may have seen their window shut, barring a possible Pac-12 championship win, thanks to a 38-20 loss to Arizona State (5-4, 3-3).

The no. 20 Washington Huskies (7-3, 5-2) can make a run, especially to the conference title game, but with three losses on the resume, it may (no, it will) be a tough task to convince the committee of the entering the CFP field even with a conference title.

Outside of that, there are long shots across the board. Who knows if the conference can field themselves playing for all the marbles by season’s end but one thing is for sure, the pickings are pretty slim.
