Buckeyes Survives Cornhuskers

It was not supposed to be this close by any means.

Yet, a late touchdown in the second quarter by quarterback Adrian Martinez gave the Nebraska Cornhuskers (2-7, 1-5 Big Ten) a 21-16 lead going into halftime. An attendance on hand of 104,245 that is pro-Ohio State was stunned silent.

A 42-yard touchdown run by running back J.K. Dobbins gave the #8 Ohio State Buckeyes (8-1, 5-1) a 36-24 lead late in the fourth quarter but even then, the Cornhuskers were not necessarily out of it. Ultimately, the Buckeyes held firm enough to walk away with a 36-31 win. Turnovers and inept defensive play was the story here for the Buckeyes.

To be fair, they were missing three starters in the secondary in addition to not having defensive end Nick Bosa, who is now preparing for the NFL  Draft. However, a game such as this from Ohio State this late in the season only gives volume to the questions of whether or not the Buckeyes are a legitimate contender for the National Championship.
