Who do we draft in the third round next year? Best player available?

More from NFL Mocks

It will always be the best player available to Pace. That’s how he’s operated to this point and it’s paid big dividends. That should not change next year, especially with so few picks at his disposal. So to determine which position he might attack, the better question to ask is where will the 2019 draft be the strongest in terms of its overall depth?

The general consensus is this draft class will be at its strongest on defense, particularly along the defensive line. It’s a class that should be rich at defensive tackle and has a good array of edge rushers too. Given the sackless streak that Leonard Floyd has been trapped in for weeks, it might be the best time for the Bears to find somebody who can get after the quarterback.

There should also be a strong contingent of cornerbacks available and I’ve felt the defense still lacks a true cover corner with all due respect to Kyle Fuller and Prince Amukamara. Outside of those two spots, I’d say the offensive line is an area to watch as Matt Nagy is the head coach and he no doubt wants to keep his young quarterback adequately protected.
