what’s the short term answer to Kyle Long’s injury & what is the long-term outlook?

Thankfully the Bears have a short-term solution to Long being out this year in the form of Eric Kush. He was starting for them at left guard and has since been replaced by rookie James Daniels. Presuming he returns from his minor neck injury, he’ll take over Long’s spot and the Bears should remain relatively stable on the interior. Kush is a solid pass blocker and has experience in that spot.

Long-term? That’s another story. This could be the second-straight year Long has been knocked out for most of a season with a lower leg injury. He already had to endure multiple surgeries this past offseason just to get ready for 2018. He’s 30-years old. At what point does one say enough is enough? Either way, I expect the Bears to be active on the offensive line in the draft at both guard and tackle next year.
