NFL 2018 Awards: Mahomes vs. Gurley and other race updates
By Erik Lambert
Comeback Player of the Year
- Andrew Luck (QB, Indianapolis Colts)
- Adrian Peterson (RB, Washington Redskins)
- Jordan Hicks (LB, Philadelphia Eagles)
- Aaron Rodgers (QB, Green Bay Packers)
- Odell Beckham Jr. (WR, New York Giants)
It’s hard to make any sort of argument on this list besides Luck. Here’s a guy some thought might never play football again after injuring his throwing shoulder, knocking him out for the entire 2017 season. Now he’s second in the NFL in touchdown passes and looking as good as he’s ever been. Yet somehow there is one man ready to challenge him.
People thought Peterson was washed up. He was done after doing next to nothing last year. A has-been. Now here he is ranked 5th in the NFL in rushing. What a story. Hicks has quietly been a terrific playmaker for the Eagles defense. Rodgers, while not lighting the world on fire has just one interception this year. Beckham Jr.? Despite a bad start he’s still in the top 5 in receiving after seeing his season last year end in injury.
