The halfway point to the season has arrived, and with it, the race for the top NFL 2018 awards have cleared. There are some good ones happening.

This has unquestionably been one of the most explosive seasons for offense in history. A revolution of young quarterbacks are leading the way, perhaps ushering in the next golden age before our very eyes. The MVP chase alone features three who are under the age of 30. No doubt the higher-ups around the league are thrilled with the results so far.

Yet that’s not the only award that will be hotly contested down the stretch. Several other major honors are up for grabs including Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year. Who are the names that stand tall? Stay tuned to find out.

MVP

  1. Patrick Mahomes (QB, Kansas City Chiefs)
  2. Todd Gurley (RB, Los Angeles Rams)
  3. Jared Goff (QB, Los Angeles Rams)
  4. Andrew Luck (QB, Indianapolis Colts)
  5. Philip Rivers (QB, Los Angeles Chargers)

Per usual it’s not so much the MVP award as it is the “Best Quarterback” award. Though to be fair one man is trying to make that a different reality. Right now Mahomes is the unquestioned leader of the pack with 26 touchdown passes. He’s on pace for 52 this season, which would be bananas considering it’s his first year as a starter for the Chiefs.

Gurley already had over 1,151 total yards from scrimmage with a ridiculous 15 touchdowns. He’s within striking distance of LaDainian Tomlinson‘s thought to be untouchable single-season record of 31 back in 2006. Goff, Luck, and Rivers have all plays so well for their respective teams too, but they’re on the outside looking in for the moment.
