#2: Aaron Rodgers to Randall Cobb

It’s a play that still draws out guttural roars of frustration from Bears fans to this day. They had it. The defense had the game in their hands. All they had to do was get one more stop and they’d be division champions and will have knocked the almighty Green Bay Packers out of the playoffs. Instead one brutal miscommunication tore it all away from them.

It was the final game of the 2013 season. The Bears led the Packers 28-27. Green Bay had bogged down on their 48-yard line. It was 4th down and long. If they didn’t get a 1st down the game was over. Then the sequence began. A late call at the line switched the defense from zone to man because the front seven was bringing an all-out blitz.

The problem is safety Chris Conte didn’t get the check, so he still thought it was zone. When the ball was snapped, Aaron Rodgers managed to avoid the rush. Before Conte could realize his mistake, receiver Randall Cobb streaked past him wide open. Rodgers hit him in stride for a game-winning touchdown. As brutal an end to a season as the Bears have ever experienced.

Not quite the worst though.
