Penn State wins a nail biter

Things did not necessarily get off to a favorable start for #14 Penn State against #19 Iowa.

For starters, the Hawkeyes earned a safety in the opening minute of the game thanks to a blocked punt. With five minutes remaining in the opening quarter, a 10-yard touchdown pass to Sam Brincks gave Iowa a 12-0 lead and plenty of momentum.

On top of that, Penn State’s leader in quarterback Trace McSorley was injured in the second quarter as it removed a major piece off the field for the Nittany Lions. However, a 51-yard touchdown run by McSorley in the third quarter gave Penn State their first lead of the game at 24-17 and a late interception by safety Nick Scott slammed the door on a promising Iowa drive and eventually, that was all she wrote.

A road game at #5 Michigan next week for the Nittany Lions has plenty on the line. We will learn a lot about Penn State in that particular setting.
