NFL Draft: 5 schools you never knew were QB factories
By Erik Lambert
Delaware
Biggest alum: Joe Flacco
He’s credited as the man who really put Delaware on the map. Flacco put up big numbers during his time there. Enough to warrant 1st round attention from the NFL. He became the starter for the Baltimore Ravens right away and has been in that position for eight years. During that time he’s led the Ravens to multiple playoff berths including a Super Bowl championship in 2012.
Other notables: Rich Gannon
While Flacco might be the most famous Blue Hen, one could argue that Rich Gannon was the better quarterback. He went to four Pro Bowls during his time in the league and won an MVP award in 2002. So why isn’t he mentioned enough? Mostly because he spent a good half of his career on the bench as a backup and journeyman, trying to find a team that would give him a shot.
2019 watchlist: Pat Kehoe
The big 6’4 kid hasn’t gotten a ton of attention but he’s bound to at some point. His season thus far has been solid with over 1,300 passing yards in seven games with 13 touchdowns and four interceptions. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been overly efficient with a lot of incompletions.
