The New York Jets at Chicago Bears matchup won’t get a lot of headlines, but it could be one of the more pivotal games of 2018 for both teams.

The Bears have won four straight against the Jets to this point but the desperation will be in the air, and there’s no telling what can happen when both teams absolutely have to have a win. The even more critical part is both are ailing with injuries to various extents and feature flawed offenses prone to turnovers. It could create some wild fireworks. The question becomes which team will overcome that to get the job done.

Storylines:

Young and erratic quarterbacks – Both teams have three victories this season but neither has a winning record. Much of this can be attributed to the inconsistency their quarterbacks are playing with. Sam Darnold has as many interceptions as touchdowns. Mitch Trubisky has good numbers but a really bad tendency to miss on some big opportunities each week. How efficiently each play will determine the outcome.

Reunion of two friends – Matt Nagy and Todd Bowles know each other well. Really well. In fact, they’ve known each other since they were kids when their fathers coached high school football together. That familiarity makes for an interesting dynamic as they prepare to face off in what might be the most important game of the season for both.
