2019 NFL Mock Draft: Oakland Raiders kick off trade bonanza

29. New England Patriots

Florida. Jachai Polite . 29. player. 47. . EDGE

As great of a coach as Bill Belichick is, the Patriots haven’t done a great job of drafting and developing high draft picks in recent years.

That has to change quickly because the group they’ve had together for nearly 20 years isn’t going to be together forever. At some point, the Patriots’ identity will change  from Belichick and Brady and their player development has to be better.

With that being said, bringing in a player like Jachai Polite would fit the Patriots’ profile, as he’s an athletic and versatile pass rusher capable of disrupting an offense from a variety of spots on the field.

He’s had pretty modest production leading up to the 2018 season where he’s exploded onto the scene for a very tough Gators defense with 9.5 tackles for loss, 7.0 sacks, and four forced fumbles.

He’s got big time potential and could develop into an edge player teams have to scheme against on a weekly basis.
