Washington Redskins three-step formula for success
By Craig Stofko
What seems to get discussed very seldom is that Shawn Lauvao has missed half the games. The domino effect there is that Alex’s center, Chase Rollier, has to move over to left guard and Tony Bergstrom steps in at center.
I’ve been pleasantly surprised by Bergstrom’s performances thus far but it would be naive to think that switching back and forth between different centers does not take some getting used to. Also, the timing between Alex and his receivers definitely has some room for improvement.

Although, I suspect it has not helped that three of the top training camp targets, Trey Quinn, Robert Davis and Cam Sims, currently reside on Injured Reserve.
Neither has the fact that the Redskins starting three Wide Receivers, Josh Doctson, Jamison Crowder, and Paul Richardson, have yet to see the field at the same time.
First Doctson was injured, then Crowder, now Richardson.
So Alex has had to adjust on the fly and try to develop some chemistry with Maurice Harris, who has missed a few games with a concussion, Brian Quick who was cut and brought back, and Michael Floyd, signed a few weeks ago.
Meanwhile, as he alternates centers every other week or so and plays musical chairs with a rotating cast of wide outs Alex Smith just seems to keep his nose to the grind stone trying to figure it all out while keeping the Redskins in first place.
