What’s the latest injury status on Khalil Mack?

More from NFL Mocks

It’s apparent that the ankle is still bothering him. Matt Nagy said the team will follow the same practice schedule as last week which means he likely won’t practice much to try and get as much rest as possible. It didn’t seem to help much last week against New England but the Bears are hopeful continued extra rest will help it come along in its recovery faster.

I think Mack should sit the next 2 weeks so he is ready for the divisional games, thoughts?

It’s a fair assessment. Mack clearly isn’t himself. Shutting him down for a couple games would probably be a big help to his ankle but the fact is the Bears absolutely need to win these next two games. They can’t afford to go into the second half of the season against the division at 4-4 or god forbid 3-5. Even a Mack at 50% can be helpful as a decoy, provided he’s willing to gut it out.

what’s wrong with our run game? why does our defense suck without healthy Mack?

There’s a number of issues with the run game. The blocking has been poor most of the time but Howard is also struggling to find openings he usually finds. It’s a weird situation. As for the defense, it’s becoming clear just how thin their pass rush was coming into this season. Floyd has been terrible. Aaron Lynch is fine but beyond them they have nothing. The secondary isn’t capable of covering up for that weakness.
