How to get Howard more involved? It’s clear he doesn’t fit Nagy’s offense.

I don’t think the problem is that he doesn’t fit the offense, it’s more than the run blocking has been poor to this point and also the fact that Howard doesn’t do well on limited snap counts. He’s a back that gets better the more you feed him. Nagy isn’t going to do that because he wants to run the offense through the quarterback. Howard’s tendency for slow starts and limited use in the passing game have all contributed to his struggles.

Michael Burton is still on the roster and the run game is hurting. If you were Nagy, would activate him on game days and see if having a lead blocker would help Howard and Cohen? If not why keep him on the roster?

It’s a fair question. If the Bears have no plans to use Burton, why not use the roster spot for a player who can actually help? That said, I don’t think Burton would solve the overall issue at hand. Quite simply the offensive line isn’t blocking well enough and Howard isn’t seeing the openings enough when they’re there. It’s unusual given the loaded boxes have decreased since the passing game opened up. One must say their execution all around has been poor.
