College Football Week Eight Takeaways: Purdue Slams Ohio State
Boilermakers knock out Buckeyes
From the gun, it was all Purdue. At the end, it was even more Purdue.
A 49-20 win for the Boilermakers came with plenty of fight for a program like Purdue (4-3, 3-1 Big Ten) that is slowly improving and it was the first win for Purdue in 34 years, ironically that came against the Ohio State program also. Purdue quarterback David Blough was very instrumental with 378 yards and three touchdowns while running back D.J. Knox pounded the Buckeyes defense with 128 yards and another three touchdowns.
To me, this game felt very reminiscent to the Buckeyes road loss to Iowa last season which was a blowout also. Thanks to this loss by Ohio State (7-1, 3-1), it opens up the door for the Buckeyes rival, Michigan, for the Big Ten East division title.
Of course the two teams will meet in the season finale with literally everything on the line but a loss such as this definitely leaves a gritty taste in their mouths.
