2018 NFL Trade Deadline: One player on the block for each team
By Erik Lambert
5. Carolina Panthers
The situation with Curtis Samuel was already a bit of a disappointment after he had just 115 yards his rookie season. Things began to turn even more against him this year when the Carolina Panthers went ahead and drafted D.J. Moore in the 1st round, a receiver who is quite similar to him in skill set. Matters were made worse when he missed time with injury.
He’s played just two games this season with 37 yards and a touchdown. His role in the offense is limited. Perhaps the Panthers may try to bring him along slowly but it’s important to remember that Samuel was drafted to play under Mike Shula, who is now gone. Norv Turner may not see the same value in him. Hence the reason for seeing a trade happen.
