32. Washington Redskins

Again we find a team fully entrenched in the playoff hunt entering week seven, something few thought could be said about the Washington Redskins. Alex Smith has kept them in the hunt, something he does every year until the playoffs come around. It makes little sense to subtract if you’re Washington considering how close the division is early on.

For the purposes of this exercise we’re moving on from Samaje Perine, a second year running back who has been a healthy scratch for most of the season.

Washington invested a fourth round pick into Perine last year when he came out of Oklahoma. He had nearly 800 yards from scrimmage as a rookie but the organization clearly didn’t think he could be a feature back and added Derrius Guice in the draft. Even when Guice was lost for the year thanks to an ACL injury the Redskins added Adrian Peterson and have let him carry the burden of the running game.

Washington won’t get much for Perine, but it’s better than having him sit on the sideline. If Washington needs running back depth they have Mack Brown, someone Redskins fans have said they want to see more of.
