San Francisco went from being a dark horse playoff team to one looking towards next season just two months into the year. The loss of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo quickly ended the 49ers season and threw them back to square one.

While this year feels like a lost season for San Francisco they have the potential to rebound next year with a healthy Garoppolo under center. There is still a lot of talent needed on both sides of the ball, but San Francisco could be a favorite sleeper next year.

With that being said, the 49ers have an opportunity to add some draft picks for next year. Veteran wide receiver Pierre Garçon is a possible trade candidate, but there is a lot of money remaining on his deal this year that could make it tough to move him. The final three years of his contract are all options, granted they are expensive.

San Francisco is better fit to move a cheap asset that won’t be a part of their future. Guard Josh Garnett was tossed out as a possibility by our sister site Niner Noise as a trade candidate. Drafted in the first round by former head coach Chip Kelly, Garnett missed all of last year and has played just one game this year thanks to a dislocated toe. At this point the value for Garnett is a pack of socks, a tough pill to swallow considering San Francisco traded the 37th, 105th, and 178th overall picks to get back into the first round to draft Garnett. Perhaps a change of scenery is best for all.
