George: Earlier we highlighted what Green Bay is facing this offseason after signing Aaron Rodgers to a massive contract extension. They’ll have to pick between pending free agents Clay Matthews, Mo Wilkerson, Randall Cobb, Ty Montgomery, Jake Ryan, and HaHa Clinton-Dix among others.

With their first pick in the first round the Packers replaced Clinton-Dix with another Alabama safety, Deionte Thompson. Where does  that leave them when they get to their second pick in the top-32?

A linebacker makes sense with both Matthews and Ryan on the open market, as does a pass rusher. Unfortunately most of the top talent at those positions have gone off the board.

Running back is another option, but the Packers would much rather allow Rodgers to win games with the ball in his hands. With that being said, the Packers need to make sure Rodgers has what he needs to make those incredible plays.

Unfortunately Packers fans have held their collective breathe every time Rodgers goes down. He injured his knee earlier this year and he’s suffered multiple shoulder/collarbone injuries in his career. It’s time to protect Rodgers with an offensive lineman.

Chris Lindstrom has been very good for Boston College at right guard taking on some ferocious pass rushers. He constantly locks up opposing linemen, shows good awareness in pass protection, and can work into the second level to make big blocks for the run game. Lindstrom has very good balance and above average upper body strength for a college guard.
