2019 NFL Mock Draft: Attacking and protecting young quarterbacks
The Patriots have to take a quarterback in the first round at some point, right?
New England made a bizarre decision last year to trade away Jimmy Garoppolo, though it’s hard to blame them considering Tom Brady has shown no real signs of slowing down or being disinterested in competing every single week despite the number of hits he’s taken in the last 20 years.
Brady looks as good as ever, and the Patriots felt like trying to hold on to Jimmy Garoppolo much longer would be a fruitless endeavor.
Perhaps they were right.
The future is still something this team needs to think about and if a player like Grier is available, perhaps the potential he has will tempt the Patriots enough at this juncture.
We’ve been fooled by them before when it comes to quarterbacks, but Grier’s ability to run a high octane passing offense with a lot of quick strike throws could make this a perfect match.
