Chicago Bears Mailbag: Khalil Mack concerns and much more
By Erik Lambert
The Chicago Bears mailbag for this week is certainly filled with a long of angst. Easy to understand after a tough loss and seeing your best player gets hurt.
The team is now 3-2 and barely clinging to the division lead after both Green Bay and Minnesota won their respective games. Just another week in the NFC North. If the Bears want to prove they belong among the best, they need to start learning from their mistakes and not making them again. So what’s on the minds of fans this week? Plenty of injury questions mixed with a little sprinkle of everything.

Was the heat that much of a factor last week. In your opinion
Yes. Look, people need to understand that Florida heat is not a joke. It’s the realest of the real. The state is in the tropics zone and that’s a sort of heat that sucks the absolute life out of a person who simply walks around outside for a period of time. So try to imagine running at full speed for three hours in full football pads and helmet. It doesn’t matter how well-conditioned those players are. If you aren’t used to it, the impact is going to be significant.

What about Kevin White?
It’s pretty much status quo with him. The fact of the matter is the Bears don’t seem to trust him as a route runner yet. The Matt Nagy offense comes from a West Coast background and that system demands precise route running. Something Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel, and Anthony Miller all do well. This was one of the knocks on White coming out of college. The lack of playing time since has continued to hold him back.

Are the Bears able to cut Kevin White or do they still believe in him
The Bears could cut White if they wished but there would be little to gain from it. They don’t get any cap relief and it would only hamper their wide receiver depth. They continue to claim they still believe in and have used him extensively as a blocker, something he’s quite good at. However, his lack of attention in the passing game is hard to ignore. As things stand his future with the team beyond 2018 seems bleak.
