Sayre” Jadeveon Clowney is set to hit free agency, but the Texans may not let him get there. Regardless if Clowney returns or not, edge rusher could be a priority for Houston, as the return of J.J. Watt this season has not exactly yielded the overall results this team had hoped for from their all-star trio of Watt, Clowney, and Whitney Mercilus.

As a matter of fact, Mercilus hasn’t recorded a sack in five games so far this season.

Watt looks like he’s back to being his usual self, and Clowney is a proven commodity, but what could a player like Montez Sweat do for this defense?

The former Michigan State transfer broke out in a big way for Mississippi State last season with 15.5 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks.

So far in 2018, he’s been even better

In just six games (at the time of this writing), Sweat has already racked up 10.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks. He’s terrorizing quarterbacks and looks like a natural edge rusher at the next level.
