2019 NFL Mock Draft: Multiple quarterbacks in the top-32

George: It pains me to take anything but a pass rusher for Oakland, but they need to follow their board and take the best player available. This year is so deep with pass rushers the Raiders can use the Bears pick to find a quality edge player.

It’s a somewhat unconventional pick, but this is Jon Gruden we’re talking about. We’re also talking about one of the top college football cornerbacks in recent memory. Greedy Williams lived up to his nickname with six interceptions as a redshirt freshman, and he continues to be a disruptive force in the LSU secondary.

Oakland is allowing nearly nine yards per completion this year and opposing quarterbacks have a 103.4 passer rating against Oakland, seventh in the league.

Pass rushers and defensive backs complement each other; when the secondary is locking down receivers the pass rushers have more time to hit the quarterback. Oakland will look to address both of those issues in the 2019 NFL Draft, and taking the best player available is a great start for Gruden and company.
