2019 NFL Mock Draft: Multiple quarterbacks in the top-32
Sayre: The Atlanta Falcons have suffered a number of very unfortunate and killer injuries on the defensive side of the ball this year, but injuries on the back end are not necessarily an excuse for the Falcons’ lack of pass rush up front.
Davis might not fit the exact athletic profile identified by Thomas Dimitroff and Dan Quinn as they’ve worked together in the past, but as an interior rusher and run defender, he is simply too talented for this team to pass up on.
After Jonathan Allen left for the NFL in 2017, Davis stepped in after posting modest numbers as a freshman in 2016 and had a breakout sophomore campaign.
He racked up 10 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks, helping lead Alabama’s defense to yet another dominant season.
A presence like this on the interior defensive line can help make everyone else around him better. Davis has incredible length and overall size, north of 6-foot-6 and 315 pounds. He could have success as an inside-outside player at the next level.
