2019 NFL Mock Draft: Multiple quarterbacks in the top-32

George: San Francisco was thought to be a dark horse playoff team after signing quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to, at the time, the biggest contract in NFL history. Garoppolo is now lost for the season with a torn ACL and the 49ers once again find themselves picking towards the top of the NFL Draft. The former Patriots quarterback is now the seventh 49er to be placed on injured reserve this season, joining the highly-paid running back Jerick McKinnon who also tore his ACL this year.

Now sitting at 1-4 with C.J. Beathard leading the offense the 49ers need to flip their -28 point differential.  The 49ers are presented with a ton of options by owning a top-five pick this year. They could build up the pass rush despite using three first round picks on the defensive line since 2015, or they could find Richard Sherman’s replacement at cornerback.

San Francisco is among the league’s basement dwellers in terms of sacks with just nine, more than a third of which have come courtesy of DeForest Buckner. It’s time to get tougher up front and add some pass rush ability in a division with Russell Wilson, Jared Goff, and Josh Rosen.

Nick Bosa was playing with his hair on fire before suffering a groin injury against TCU. Even coming off the injury Bosa will be one of the top prospects in the 2019 NFL Draft and likely the top edge rusher among NFL mock drafts.
