DT. Houston. Ed Oliver. 2. player. 46.

George: Indianapolis dropped their fourth game of the year 38-24 in New England and have lost three straight despite Andrew Luck’s return. Luck is the league’s leading passer through five weeks, but the offense has been outscored by 20 points this year, among the bottom 10 in the league.

Despite the poor start Indianapolis is second in the league with 17 sacks thanks to rookie Darius Leonard and Margus Hunt each collecting four apiece. Leonard, the Colts second round pick out of South Carolina State, is shockingly the leading candidate for rookie of the year with 54 tackles to go with his four sacks.

Interior defensive lineman Al Woods is a free agent this offseason and rates as Pro Football Focus’ 87th defensive tackle. It’s time for an upgrade in the middle of the Colts defense as they continue to grow under first year head coach Frank Reich

Followers of the NFL Draft and NFL Mock Drafts will find Ed Oliver at the top of nearly every big board and mock draft leading up to the NFL Draft, regardless of who owns the top picks. The Houston defensive lineman doesn’t have the stats that’ll blow you away coming off his American Conference Defensive Player of the Year award, but his physical attributes are almost unmatched.

The defensive tackle position has become one of the highest paid in football with the likes of Aaron Donald, Fletcher Cox, Gerald McCoy, and others wreeking havoc across the league.

Indianapolis needs pure talent to build around on defense, and that’s what Oliver brings immediately to their front seven.
