George: Jacksonville has taken a dramatic turn for the better in recent years, going from one of the worst teams in the NFL to legitimate Super Bowl contenders. Their defense, led by more stars than I can name here, continues to be one of the best in football.

Where the Jaguars need to take another step forward is on offense. While finding a potential upgrade to Blake Bortles is enticing, he’s owed $21 million next year and can’t be cut without the Jags taking a major financial hit. Rather than push Bortles out the Jaguars need to continue adding pieces around him on offense.

Wide receiver is an option here, but Jacksonville just used a second round pick on DJ Chark and Keelan Cole has been serviceable in place of the injured Marquise Lee.

Instead, the Jaguars get the best tight end in the 2019 NFL Draft with Iowa’s Noah Fant, a 6’5 behemoth with excellent hands. Fant looks like he could play in the NFL tomorrow and be a top-10 tight end as a rookie. Last year he scored 11 touchdowns for the Hawkeyes and he’s well on his way to matching that with five through as many games.
