The latest 2019 NFL mock draft features multiple first round quarterbacks

While some 2019 NFL Draft evaluators struggle to fit two quarterbacks into the first round of their 2019 NFL mock drafts, our latest projection find multiple going in the top-32.

NFL Mocks editors George Stockburger, Sayre Bedinger, and Erik Lambert bring the latest 2019 NFL mock draft.

Oregon. Justin Herbert. 1. player. 31. . QB

George: The fate of the New York Giants franchise took a major turn in the 2018 NFL Draft when the organization took running back Saquon Barkley second overall. New York felt that veteran quarterback Eli Manning still had enough juice to win and that having a generational running back would help boost the offense. While Barkley is just the third running back in NFL history to have at least 100 scrimmage yards in his first five games, the Giants sit tied with the worst record in football.

New York didn’t think they’d be back in this position by seasons end, but it looks as if they will be drafting in at least the top-five once again. That likely means a quarterback despite the enormous amount of elite defensive linemen at the top of the 2019 NFL Draft.

University of Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert likely won’t win the Heisman and he’s not among the leading passers in college football, but he’s the consensus top quarterback for most NFL Draft evaluators. He’s a prototypical pocket passer with the size and strength to win on Sundays, and while Manning  isn’t the same quarterback he once was, he’s likely still the starter in 2019 despite the likely addition of another quarterback.

Some mechanics will need tweaking for Herbert once he enters the NFL Draft process, and he’ll likely team up with one of the top quarterback coaches while he trains for the combine and workouts.

While Herbert isn’t the number one player on most boards, he’ll be the top pick if a quarterback-needy team sits atop the NFL Draft order come April.
