Michigan Keys To Victory

Activity In The Backfield: This is a classic Michigan defense. The unit is first overall in FBS in total defense by allowing just 230.5 yards per game. They are also first in yards allowed per play with just 3.69. They also allow just 15.8 points per game (11th) and is sixth in the FBS in tackles for loss. Which is where this point is headed. It’s no secret that Wisconsin will attempt to get the run game active early. For a team that lives in opposing backfields, racking up tackles for loss will negate a vital element for the Wisconsin offense.

Production From Shea: Slowly, Michigan quarterback Shea Patterson has seen an increase in pass attempts over the last three weeks. With that, he has also seen an increase in passing yards each week. Over the five-game winning streak, Patterson has thrown for 10 touchdowns and only two interceptions. These are signs that the coaching staff is believing in the talented thrower and allowing him to be an integral part. He has connected on 60% or better on his throws in every game this season so getting him in rhythm may be the biggest key to the Wolverines offense.
